The reason I blog

I have enjoyed writing this blog each week, but there is a larger purpose for this blog and my other ministries as well. I am the proud wife of “Dr. D.” In fact, I’m probably his biggest fan. Jim and I have been married for 32 years and he has taught me a great deal. Jim is a brilliant human being who made straight “A’s” in school, went through college on an academic scholarship, earned academic awards, and then excelled at seminary while earning a PhD in Philosophy. I, on the other hand, was happy with a ‘B”, worked 20 to 30 hours a week during college and rarely missed a get together with friends. My husband and I are different in many ways, but we share a calling. And as the year draws to a close, I would ask you to consider being a part of our ministry.

Jim and I are blessed to serve the Denison Forum on Truth and Culture, each in our own way. We both work at the office with the help of a great team of people, who love the Lord. We are small in number – but, truthfully, we are able to do a LOT of Kingdom work each week. And God has blessed our efforts. We have been able to help both Christians and non-Christians learn to think with a biblical perspective. One of my favorite “ministry verses” is Colossians 3:23. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” Jim and I make it our goal to work for the Lord, and serve his purposes.

Our motivations are the daily news, the directions we see our culture taking, and most importantly, a clear call from God to this ministry. We are called to teach, preach and share the gospel with our world. Our challenge is to speak biblical truth to a culture that often questions the relevance of that position. We believe the Internet is a powerful mission field, able to reach people in every nation and neighborhood. We try to provide a rational, intelligent and powerful voice for biblical truth. Everyone who owns a cell phone has access to God’s word today. We work hard to make sure the answers they find on our websites are biblically and theologically accurate and applicable.  We are set to launch a great deal of new material in the coming year, and we could use your help.

The purpose of this essay is to ask you to consider supporting this work.  I know that if you are reading this essay, you probably have several ministries you help. We do too. If you have given to The Denison Forum in the past, please know we are very grateful for your gift. I would ask you to pray about adding us to your list again this year, or maybe for the first time. I can honestly say, we will honor your gift and use it wisely. Truthfully, we are able to do a great deal of ministry with what our donors give. We have a small staff, an efficient office and we are motivated by a great God. Our culture needs to know that God’s word is the best answer and God’s will is the best directive. Would you help us teach God’s truth?

You can send a tax-deductible contribution to the Denison Forum on Truth and Culture, 17304 Preston Road, Suite 1060, Dallas, TX 75252.  Or you can click on this link to make a secure online donation.

This post will be the only time I ask for your support.  In the past, God has led, and people have responded.  We are blessed to have readers that understand the larger scope of what we do.  Jim and I thank each of you for caring. We will continue to work hard for the Lord and honor him with your gift.

Gratefully,

Janet
